Smart migration for better performance at viaBOVAG

viaBOVAG.nl offers consumers a mobility platform featuring vehicles exclusively from recognised BOVAG companies. To stay ahead in a competitive market, the organisation wanted to further improve the platform’s speed, organic visibility and user experience.

To achieve this, viaBOVAG.nl started migrating from .NET to Next.js with Server-Side Rendering (SSR). The challenge was to carry out this major technical transition without bringing the ongoing development of the platform to a halt. New features still needed to be developed and launched alongside the migration.

When Matthijs joined the team, the migration was already well underway. The team needed experienced front-end expertise to help make technical and strategic decisions, manage priorities and maintain stability throughout the platform’s modernisation.

Matthijs used his extensive front-end and React experience to accelerate the ongoing migration to Next.js with Server-Side Rendering. In addition to the technical implementation, he contributed to strategic decisions around performance, organic visibility and conversion.

Throughout the migration, the team continued to develop new functionality. Matthijs helped balance immediate migration priorities with work that could be addressed at a later stage, while remaining flexible enough to handle urgent and ad-hoc issues.

Matthijs also acted as a central point of contact for stakeholders. Short communication lines and clear coordination helped ensure that technical decisions and priorities were understood both within the development team and across the organisation.

This enabled viaBOVAG.nl to continue modernising its platform without putting ongoing feature development on hold.
